What is exercise rehabilitation?

Exercise rehabilitation is an important part of recovering from injury, surgery or a chronic condition. An exercise therapy program is tailored to your specific needs and designed to restore muscle strength, improve flexibility and mobility, increase core strength and retrain movement patterns. Your rehabilitative exercise program may involve Clinical Pilates, physio-led exercise classes and strength classes at our O’Connor clinic. We also provide OA Rehab classes and home exercise programs.

Clinical Pilates

Clinical Pilates is ideal for helping your rehabilitation following an injury or surgery. It differs from the generic Pilates classes offered at fitness centres because our classes account for your specific needs due to your injuries, surgery or chronic condition.

Your Clinical Pilates exercises are unique to you and focused on your posture, core stability, balance, control, strength, flexibility and breathing. It’s practised on equipment, such as reformers, as well as mat-based exercises in semi-private classes or individual sessions.

Physio-led exercise classes

Our physio-led exercise classes are ideal for patients suffering from back and neck pain, arthritis, osteoporosis, lymphoedema and pelvic floor dysfunction. Exercise is a vital part of your rehabilitation and your physio develops a program that’s designed to cater for your specific needs.

Starting with an initial assessment, you’ll join our semi-private physio-led exercise classes where everyone has their own individually prescribed program.
