Next Wave Therapy Consultations Online

Our team at Next Wave Therapy in O’Connor (Fremantle area) are offer comprehensive telehealth consultations. These are for physiotherapy, occupational therapy and naturopathy appointments.

NOTE: the video in this blog was recorded is response to the COVID19 lock down in 2019. The opening line says that we have moved all services to online. This is no longer valid BUT we do still offer telehealth for people who need it.

What is telehealth?

Telehealth is an effective way of providing therapy with the use of telecommunication technology. It encompasses telemedicine (diagnosis and treatment) and education aspects of health care.

Telehealth allows us to provide high quality and effective therapy across geographic, time, social and/or cultural barriers.

What does a telehealth consultation involve at Next Wave Therapy?

A telehealth consultation is much the same as a consultation in person. The technology has been streamlined to give you the highest quality experience with successful health outcomes.

Using a person centered approach means our therapists provide individually tailored therapy based on your needs.

MAKING AN APPOINTMENT

You can make an appointment by phoning reception, emailing us or booking online here.

Once your appointment is made you will be sent an email with a link to our online platform. At the scheduled time all you need to do is click on the link and you will automatically ‘walk’ into you therapist’s ‘virtual room’. It is that easy.

DURING YOUR APPOINTMENT

Your therapist will take you through the usual format for an appointment

An Initial appointment is 60 minutes and usually follows a 3 step process.

  1. Firstly, it involves listening to you, finding out what the problem is and what you are concerned about. An experienced clinician will have a pretty good idea at this stage on what is going on for you.

  2. From here, your therapist will need more information to get to the heart of what is going on for you. This may involve filling in a questionnaire, answering more specific questions or demonstrating a movement, for example.

  3. Finally your therapist will talk to you about what their findings and formulate a targeted treatment plan with you.

A Follow up appointment will involve checking progress, providing therapy or simply touching base to check on how you are progressing. Your therapist will discuss your options with you.

WHAT TECHNOLOGY IS USED?

Our primary method of interacting with you is via video conferencing. This can be done via your phone, tablet, laptop or desk top computer. The platforms we use are secure and adhere to our privacy policy.

We also use telephone consults, messaging via phone or What’s App and email as ways of keeping in touch or sending you information.

HOW CAN YOU OFFER PHYSIOTHERAPY ONLINE?

After your initial assessment your physiotherapist will be able to discuss your condition with you; prescribe appropriate exercises and other strategies to help you self-manage at home; and address any underlying factors contributing to your pain, injury or rehabilitation needs.
They are also able to determine if any further investigation is necessary.

At Next wave Therapy we use PhysiApp to create your tailored exercise program for you. PhysiApp gives high quality audio-visual guidance so that you can complete your prescribed exercise program at home.

I have been attending Next Wave every week for nearly one year, when I first went I was suffering extreme persistent pain and had very limited mobility. The Next Wave team, particularly Carleen worked with me to develop a pilates program tailored to my individual needs. This also included myofascial release physical therapy. My health transformation from intense debilitating pain to my current recovery levels has given me hope for a quality of life I thought was not available to me anymore. Thank you Carleen for your outstanding professional technical support and your emotional positive encouragement.

Next Wave Therapy was recommended to me to assist with some lingering issues from a 10 year chronic pain disorder. Sasha worked an absolute miracle on me, not only rectifying some long term issues with my neck, shoulder, arm and jaw but also setting me up to flourish moving forward. She also provided me with a herbal tonic to address my chronic sleeping disorder which is so effective, it's phenomenal! I thoroughly recommend Sasha and the team at Next Wave.Thank you :)
