What’s involved in Clinical Pilates?

You will need an initial assessment with our physiotherapist before joining one of the Semi-Private Classes.

All classes run for one hour with a maximum of 3 people per class. Small semi-private sessions ensures optimal supervision. This means you are guaranteed to receive Pilates instruction that is completely personalised for you and your needs.

Babies under 6 months are welcome to come to a class with their mother attending for post natal rehabilitation.

Joseph Pilates dedicated his life to improving his physical strength and wellbeing.

He believed that modern lifestyle, poor posture, and incorrect breathing were at the root of disease. Having been exposed to gymnastics, martial arts and bodybuilding by his father, Joseph developed a complete exercise system during World War I. initially called ‘Contrology’.

It is this idea of movement control or ‘motor control’ that Physiotherapists have found so effective in treating injuries and musculoskeletal disorders, integrating the mind and body through intelligent movement
